EASYBREATH DECATHLON MASK
INTRODUÇÃO E OBJETIVOS
TASK FORCE PORTUGAL
In recent weeks, a group of partners composed of Hospitals, Universities, Companies and Civil Society Organizations coordinated a "taskforce" operation to test the adaptation of Decathlon's Easybrath face snorkel mask: as non-invasive ventilation equipment (for patients) ; and as personal protective equipment (for health professionals), similar to what is being done around the world to deal with COVID-19.
It is a prevention "taskforce", which prepared equipment to be used only as a last resort in an emergency, in the event of a total lack of certified equipment, where it was no longer possible to find other official health supplies.
and
This group is informal and only intends to be able to contribute as a pivot of the existing national and international information implemented by specialists in the field of specialties. In the same way, it intends to be able to supply the equipment to specialized health professionals for its use, in accordance with good practices and forcing the creation of protocols and declarations of consent for use, not being responsible for the consequences and impact of the use of the equipment. same.
PROCESS FOR ACQUISITION OF EQUIPMENT
Many Hospitals and engineering teams around the world are testing and using this equipment. It was started in Italy, through the company Isinnova and Hospital Chiari, and followed by other countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom and the USA with which we are in contact. Portugal started about 2 weeks ago and has been testing over the last few weeks to improve mask sealing ability, filter performance, CO2 accumulation and clinical usability.
We have now reached this stage of dissemination, opening the opportunity to be able to test throughout the country for all hospitals. See the following information, the structured and common base recommended by this group; and a complementary one, which can be a starting point for the use of Decathlon Easybreath valves and masks.
PHASE 1
As a healthcare professional, I want to test for the first time and for that I need testing equipment.
1.1 Read the information base and complementar
1.2 Submit the equipment purchase form
1.3 Receive the equipment and implement the test with the informed consent of the health professional and patient
1.4 Successful test!! Develop the protocol (based on the existing existing one)
1.5 Validate protocol with the Ethics Committee
and submit the protocol authorized by the hospital's board of directors to move to Phase 2.
FASE 2
I already tested it, and now I'm ready to scale and receive more equipment at my hospital.
2.1 Submit the form to order more equipment (coming soon)
2.2 Summarily report the results of this use (soon available)
SUPPORT INFORMATION
We are an informal group that decided to organize an emergency response to the possible shortage of resources for non-invasive ventilation of hospitalized patients victims of the current pandemic. We reinforce that this equipment is an emergency solution and that it should not replace medical materials and equipment whenever they are available.
and
There are currently over 40 healthcare professionals from over 20 hospitals involved in mask and valve testing, supported by over 10 engineering companies across the country. So we came to some important conclusions to take into account the way in which this equipment is used.
PROJECT PARTNERS
MANAGEMENT, PRODUCTION AND IMPACT INVESTORS PARTNERS
Partners who started the process and assumed, free of charge, support for the initial tests and now for the process of dissemination and distribution to all Portuguese hospitals. There will only be costs for the production of valves, which will only be for the acquisition of raw material and use of production equipment.
HOSPITALS WITH HEALTH PROFESSIONALS INVOLVED
Hospital units of health professionals involved in the testing phase of the use of the equipment
OTHER ENGINEERING PARTNERS INVOLVED
Other engineering partners linked to several Portuguese universities
